Common Questions About Paediatric Care

We see children from birth through to 18 years of age. This includes newborn assessments, routine well-baby check-ups, childhood illness management, and adolescent health consultations.
Yes. We administer routine immunisations in line with the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI-SA) schedule recommended by the Department of Health. We also offer additional recommended immunisations beyond the standard schedule, and will advise on what is appropriate for your child.
Yes. We keep same-day slots open every weekday and Saturday morning specifically for acutely unwell children. Book online, call us on 012 051 7030, or walk in.
Bring your child in for a persistent fever above 38°C, difficulty breathing, unusual lethargy, repeated vomiting or diarrhoea, a rash that does not fade under pressure, or any symptom that concerns you as a parent. When in doubt, it is always better to have your child assessed.
We use standardised WHO growth charts and validated developmental screening tools to assess your child's progress. If a concern is identified, we either monitor closely with follow-up or refer to a paediatric specialist for further evaluation.
Yes. We offer post-discharge newborn assessments — including weight check, feeding assessment, jaundice screening, umbilical cord and skin care guidance, and discussion of safe sleeping. Typically scheduled within the first week or two of life.
Yes. We provide confidential, age-appropriate consultations for teenagers aged 10–18, including puberty concerns, mental health screening, sexual and reproductive health guidance, and management of conditions such as acne and sports injuries. Confidentiality is respected in accordance with the adolescent's rights under South African law.
A standard paediatric consultation is approximately 30 minutes — enough time to take a proper history, examine your child unhurriedly, and discuss the treatment plan with you. Newborn assessments and developmental reviews may take longer.
Yes. We accept all major South African medical aids — Discovery, Bonitas, Momentum, Medihelp, GEMS, Fedhealth, Bestmed, Profmed, Bankmed, Sizwe and more. We submit claims electronically on your behalf at no extra cost.
